The reasons why injection mould parts do not work smoothly

Injection moulds that are used for too long or are not lubricated and maintained are likely to jam or operate poorly. In order to prevent poor operation, injection moulds need to be accurately lubricated on a regular basis. The following will be based on our many years of experience in the injection mould industry, on this issue for detailed analysis and explanation.

1.Corrosive wear
Reason: Corrosive environment such as chemical composition, moisture, ions, etc. produced by the resin causes a potential difference between the injection mould parts and the form of wear occurs.
Impact: There is a risk of damaging the cavities and cores, which will directly lead to the damage of the injection mould.
Treatment: Regular and proper lubrication management of the injection mould is required, or a maintenance-free component structure.

  1. Micro-motion wear
    Reason: Shallow pitting wear occurs in the relatively small clearance state of the fit, mostly in the fixed key and keyway.
  1. Fatigue wear
    Cause: Fatigue occurs as a result of repeated movement and stopping of injection mould parts, which leads to the occurrence of wear patterns.
    Influence: The repeated action of the load on the mould parts, more or less will lead to the occurrence of metal fatigue, will occur in the form of scale peeling.

4.Abrasive wear
Cause: When there is a hardness difference between moving parts, hard materials bite into soft materials, causing the phenomenon of scratching and burning.

  1. Adhesion wear
    Cause: The protruding parts of the mould parts collide with each other and produce adhesion in the part where the contact is the strongest, the adhesive part comes off and turns into wear powder, thus making the wear go on and on.
    Impact: the surface of the mould parts is smooth at first glance, but in fact there is a slight bump, the raised part will be the first to contact, which leads to friction heat concentrated in the tiny part and cause adhesion.
  2. When the injection mould is continuously opened and closed for injection moulding, the ejector pin, the straight push tube and centre pin, the side extractor slider, etc. may have a bad movement.
